We now have the latest news on Mark Riss who was injured in a heat 6 crash at Armadale on Friday evening. Initially he was take to the Royal Infirmary in Edinburgh but after the diagnosis of his hand injury he was then transferred to St John's Hospital in Livingston.

Mark has undergone an operation on his injured right hand on Saturday morning. Initial suggestions that he had broken two fingers were incorrect although the fingers were dislocated. The bigger problem is that tendons in both fingers have been torn and a further operation will be undertaken on Monday to fix this problem. The surgeon estimates that the recovery time will be six weeks.

Club chairman Alex Harkess and his son David, who acts as Mark's mechanic, visited him on Saturday afternoon and Mark was still asleep from the operation but soon was fully awake and chatting and Alex reports that he was in good spirits.

Mark will be in St Johns until Tuesday at least and would welcome visitors. He's in Ward 18 at St John's and visiting times are 3 to 5 and 7 to 8.30.
