Josh Pickering faces a battle to be fit for Friday night's clash with Workington after breaking two fingers on his left hand in the heat 5 crash with Sam Masters at Ashfield on Saturday.

Josh struggled to hold on during his last two races at Ashfield and when he was still in pain on Sunday he took a trip to his local hospital for a check up. X-rays revealed that he had broken his pinkie and flaked the bone on the next finger. There is also a bit of tendon damage.

Josh said, "I'll see how it goes before deciding if I'll ride on Friday. At the moment I simply wouldn't be able to hang on but I've got a few days to let the welling go down."

The Parsons Peebles Monarchs are already without Mark Riss on Friday who is on his way to a GP Qualifier in Slovenia. A guest replacement will fill in for him.

The Comets will be without Craig Cook as he is also on his way to a GP qualifier in Italy. The Comets have booked Stevie Worrall to take his place.
