With less than twenty four hours to go until the Armadale Speedway season starts with the staging of the Harrisons Scottish Open Championship some of Friday's contestants have been in action on Thursday evening.

Rory Schlein was involved in the Knock Out Cup tie at Ipswich and it was a big win for the Witches defeating Berwick by 60 points to 30. Rory couldn't have done better with a fifteen point maximum. On the Bandits side Kevin Doolan top scored but managed just 7.

Further up the country Josh Grajczonek was in action in Sheffield's inter-league challenge with Somerset. He scored 8 and a bonus from his five rides.

Again a little bit closer to home the Julie Lewis Memorial meeting was staged at Redcar. It was a delayed start after some electrical problems before Jason Garrity romped to victory with a maximum. Second place went to a man coming to see us tomorrow, Ulrich Ostergaard. A little bit further down the field Aaron Summers had 6 and Matthew Wethers 5.

On Friday we launch the season with a special Championship magazine. 44 pages and priced at £3.50.

Pre-sales of admission tickets are going well and we have our highest ever advance ticket sales for an opening meeting of the season.
