With the Harrisons Scottish Open Championship now just 3 days away we have been forced into a late change to the line-up.

Unfortunately Kyle Newman took a heavy tumble riding in Darcy Ward’s benefit meeting at Poole last Friday and despite initial reports that he had avoided serious injury this no longer appears to be the case as Kyle has been diagnosed with 3 torn muscles in his shoulder alongside a fractured shoulder blade.

This is a bitter blow for the Dorset racer who impressed all at the Parsons Peebles Monarchs with his keenness to come north and compete. We wish Kyle all the best and hope he makes a speedy recovery.

Coming in to replace Kyle is a very well known face in Matthew Wethers.

Stormy as he is affectionately known is of course a Monarchs legend having been part of no less than 3 of our 5 league winning seasons and his inside riding around Armadale is the stuff of legend. Unfortunately as it stands Matthew is a victim of the speedway numbers game and currently finds himself unattached this means he will be keener than ever to show what he has to offer and that on his starting average of 5.65 he could do a job for anyone in our division.

James Grieves is the only man to have appeared at more Open Championships in the Armadale era and Matty will equal his record of 9 with this appearance (as will Rory Schlein) his best finish being in the 2011 Open when the Adelaide born man finished fourth.

Heat sponsorship packages still remain which include recognition as a heat sponsor, admission for two to the Open, two match magazines, a DVD of the Championship and hospitality for two in the Champions Lounge - all for just £120. Follow the link below to book this package now!

Tickets are on sale now details of all can be found here for what is sure to be a hotly contested night of racing to raise the curtain on our 21st season at Armadale.
