The final round of the Australian Championship took place at Kurri Kurri in New South Wales on Saturday. Sam Masters has finished second in the Championship in each of the last two years and went into the final round three points behind Justin Sedgmen but had surged into the overall lead by his third ride and had the title wrapped up before contesting the A Final.

At the end of the 20 qualifying heats Sam was two points up on Sedgmen and Justin was the only rider who could overhaul our skipper. Sedgy wasn't having a good night and had the last gate choice in the B Final giving him the impossible outside. Despite a determined effort to get the vital win he needed to keep his Championship chances alive his second place and failure to make the Final gave Sam the title.

Sam made a complete mess of the start in the A Final and finished last in the race but it didn't matter as he had already clinched the Championship by three clear points.

After two good opening rounds in the Championship Josh Pickering equalled his Undera score of 2 and finished 13th.

Everyone at the Club is delighted for Sam on winning the Australian Championship in one of the toughest fields for years.
