A new day has dawned down under and for and for one of our 2015 Border Roofing Monarchs it is the start of an important weekend.

The Etihad Stadium in Melbourne opens its doors to speedway at 1.00pm on Friday afternoon (3am our time on Friday morning) and two hours later Sam Masters will get his first chance to race a grand prix circuit. It's a very big occasion in Sam's relatively short speedway career.

Sam flew out of the UK on Monday morning and made it back to his home in Newcastle New South Wales a day later. The next morning he was travelling again, this time from New South Wales to Melbourne. It's a short trip in Aussie terms but it's actually more than five hundred miles.

Sam was a bit weighed down on his trip home. With our important League Championship Final meetings here last weekend, Sam kept his best engines here and flew them home with him as hold luggage. They certainly seemed to work as he scored a maximum at Armadale on Saturday. He'll be hoping for the same on Saturday.

The meeting commences at 7.00pm in Melbourne which is nine o'clock in the morning in Scotland but, for sure, we'll hope to be in front of the TV tuned to Eurosport to see how he does and see if Justin Sedgmen and Max Fricke, reserves for the meeting, get a chance on track also.
