The Border Roofing Monarchs have announced their team for the opening match of the season at Glasgow on Sunday afternoon.

The rules dictate that Craig Cook lines up at number one and he will be partnered by Justin Sedgmen. Kevin Wolbert will be number 3 with fellow German Erik Riss at 4. Sam Masters will pull on the number 5 race jacket and the reserves will line up with Max Clegg at 6 and Rob Branford at 7.

Explaining the shape of the team Chairman Alex Harkess said, "The rules dictate that we have Cookie at 1 and he formed such a good partnership with Sedgy last year, giving us a great start to most matches, that we'd be foolish to split them. Sam is one of the top riders in the league and if he's not able to be ay 1 then he must be at 5 because of the big race in heat 13 and also to offer protection to our reserves."

He continued, "There's only one tac ride possible this year and heat 12 is the last opportunity to use it. Should we need to defend one in that race then Kevin is the man for that job. That gives Erik the 4 bib. We'll see how the reserves go until we settle their long term positions."

The team captain will be announced at Saturday afternoon's Press session.

Before that Sam Masters and Justin Sedgmen are in action on Friday. Sam guests for Rye House at Peterborough and Justin Sedgmen is in the Poole select team at Somerset.

Erik Riss and his family arrived safely in Edinburgh on Friday afternoon and took a quick look at Armadale, "it's tight." said Erik.

Don't forget that the riders will be on track at Armadale on Saturday afternoon from 4.00pm. Admission is free and all are invited. The European Pairs from Torun will be shown on the TV in the bar from 6pm.
