A BIG WIN FOR THE RAIN

Sunday afternoons Premier league match at Glasgow was called off just before one o'clock following heavy rain.

For those of us that were in Edinburgh between twelve and one perhaps this did not come as a surprise as heavy, heavy rain tumbled down and with the forecast suggesting that this was heading west it was, probably, inevitable that Ashfield would get some kind of rain.

Said co-promoter John Campbell, "I delayed my departure for Ashfield believing that it was only a matter of time before the match was postponed. I just got onto the M8 when Alan Dick called from Glasgow. The conditions on the motorway at that time were scary to put it mildly. I was quite pleased that I was able to turn back at the next junction."

"I sympathise greatly with the Glasgow Promotion. We went through the same problems in 2012 with rain falling every week causing postponement or worries about getting a meeting on. For the good of us all I hope the summer arrives soon. By a week today we'll be into June and I hope the sunshine and temperatures reflect that."

No new date has been set yet for the re-run and we now look forward to our meeting at Ipswich on Thursday.
