Max Fricke has successfully defended his Australian Under 21 title at Gillman, Adelaide on Saturday evening and he’s still only seventeen years old!

It was a very mixed field for the event with six riders being seasoned UK performers and the others still making their way in the sport including two very talented young riders in Jack Holder and Brady Kurtz. However, Max showed, once again, what a talented young rider he is by securing the Title again in the Grand Final.

Favourite for the Championship was Nick Morris and he certainly seemed to be the leading contender with five wins in the qualifying heats. Max was next best in the qualifiers with thirteen points losing to Morris and Ryan Douglas. Douglas secured the next direct qualification place to the final with twelve points.

The B Final was contested by Jack Holder, Tyson Nelson and Jake Allen and they should have been joined by Brady Kurtz but he crashed heavily in the twentieth qualifying race and was unable to take his place. Holder won the B Final to gain the final place in the Final.

The Final turned out to be the race of the night with Max leading from the tapes and Nick Morris in hot pursuit. Nick took the lead but Max was not for giving in stormed through on the inside again and in the frantic rush to the winning line Nick fell leaving the cool, calm Max to collect the Title.

After the event Max was absolutely thrilled with his win and it won’t be long until we can personally congratulate him as he returns to Scotland next month.
