Despite their recent respective records, Scotwaste Monarchs haven't lost since 16th June and the Western Commercials Tigers haven't won since 5th May, Friday night's big Scottish Derby clash at Armadale will still raise the passions of both sets of supporters.

Advance ticket sales, as they have been for all recent matches, are very high and a good number have been purchased from addresses in the west of Scotland.

The Tigers are suggesting that they may make another change to their team but any new rider will not be in place to race at Armadale.

Whilst Mitchell Davey and Max Fricke took the opportunity to travel down to Poole on Wednesday night in support of Jozsef Tabaka, undertaking a guest booking for Wolverhampton against the Pirates, Theo Pijper has gone even further and has been over in France this week.

Theo will be back at Armadale on Friday before he returns to France on Saturday to race in the next round of the World Long Track Grand Prix at Marmande. That doesn't start until half past nine on Saturday evening and it is normally well after midnight before it finishes. That won't give Theo many hours of sleep before he has to return to the UK and Peterborough on Sunday afternoon.

Following a very uncomfortable meeting at Glasgow on Sunday, with pain in his upper chest Theo reports that he is feeling much better now.

Our opponents on Saturday night, Rye House Rockets, were racing in the first leg of the Knock Out Cup semi final at Redcar on Thursday night. They were well served by guest, Josh Grajczonek, who lost only to Micky Dyer in heat 15, and new signing Pontus Aspgren and lost by only six points. That makes then favourites to make the final and the other semi final has still to be staged between the Scotwaste Monarchs and Somerset. We have had some discussions with Somerset over dates for this and hope to make an announcement very shortly.
