At the third attempt the Scotwaste Monarchs are making the trip west to Glasgow for the first time this season.

It is the restaging of the League Cup clash that was originally rained off 14th April. This time it seems we will be lucky with the weather as we enjoy our best weather of the year in Scotland.

It could be seen by many as a meaningless fixture as the Scotwaste Monarchs have already qualified for the League Cup semi finals but derby clashes between Scotland's greatest speedway rivals can never to be considered to anything other than intense competition with both sides determined to win.

With the Scottish Cup football final taking place in Glasgow tomorrow it is likely that the roads will be busy but there is the likelihood that the majority of football traffic will be ahead of the speedway traffic on the way to the match. The Glasgow Promotion have stated that they will do all the can to speed the match through so that speedway fans, who do not wish to try out the new bar facilities now available at Ashfield Stadium, can be on their way home before the Cup Final is over.

Glasgow were racing at Workington on Saturday night in a Premier League match and they can be a little grateful to Jozsef Tabaka for preventing an even greater hammering. The Tigers went down to defeat by 65 to 27 and Jozsef, guesting for the Comets, was the only member of the Workington team that did not hit double figures managing a miserable 4 + 1 from his five rides.

Down at Leicester Craig Cook almost lead Plymouth to a shock away win over the Lions. Craig scored a superb 15 point maximum for the Devils, his third maximum in three days, but the Devils lost a last heat decider to go down by 46.to 44.
