Although Berwick Bandits have chosen not to bring a guest to replace the injured Ricky Ashworth at Armadale on Friday night we will have two extra special guests joining us at the stadium.

Simon Gerrans, the 2012 Australian road cycling champion will be with us. Simon has been racing in Europe recently and over the past year he has ridden with some distinction in European events in addition to his Aussie success. He is a member of the Orca GreenEDGE team and he’s had two wins and a third in most recent events. And why is he coming to Armadale, he’s Max Fricke’s cousin!

Simon will be joined at the Scotwaste Arena by an even bigger celebrity, Jeff Banks the internationally famous fashion designer. He co-founded the Warehouse fashion chain, brought fashion to television by hosting 320 episodes of the Clothes Show for BBC. More recently he launched another chain of stores in his own name and you can find one at McArthur Glen at Livingston. And why is he coming to Armadale, well one of his recent projects has been to design street wear for the Orca GreenEdge cycle team.

We are pleased to welcome them both.

For the Scotwaste Monarchs it is all about winning on Friday night and, hopefully, by more than six points. If we manage that then we will jump to the top of the Border League Cup section and will be in the driving seat for qualification to the semi finals. A last heat 5-1 for Newcastle at Redcar on Thursday night gave them one match point and they have moved into a prime position to qualify to the semi finals. Sheffield are already there and Ipswich seem likely to win the Southern group.

Gates open on Friday at 6.30pm and although tickets remain on sale online it will be possible to pay cash at the gates.
