Our team manager at Berwick on Saturday night, Alex Harkess, has called on the Scotwaste Monarchs to ensure that we qualify for the League Cup Semi Finals by winning our two home matches in the competition.

Alex said, “We’ve done the hard part by picking up match points in our first away match now if we can win both our home matches, and one of them by more than six points, then we are certain to qualify for the semi-finals.”

The track at Berwick on Saturday night certainly proved tricky in the early heats but the Scotwaste Monarchs overcame this far better than the home men and Alex continued,” I knew that we would take control as the match progressed as it was obvious that we had the two star men on show in Craig and Claus. We’ve also got a good team spirit bubbling up and that helps too.”

Berwick provide the visitors to the Scotwaste Arena on Friday and the options for them are clear cut. They must win to retain interest in the tournament. They are awaiting news on Ricky Ashworth who was signed out of the meeting at Armadale on Friday with concussion and he now needs medical clearance to resume.

We are grateful to Newcastle Speedway for allowing Max Fricke the opportunity to practice down there on Sunday evening. Max’s parents set out on Monday evening for their journey home to Australia and we all know that it will take just one good race for Max to set him off for an excellent season.
