On Friday May 3rd we are staging one of our irregular Legends Nights when a Monarch of 1986 and 1987, Doug Wyer, will be greeting old friends in our hospitality area as he makes his first visit to Armadale.

Although he only rode for the Monarchs for a short time, joining the club in 1986 when the current promoting company took over the team he was a major influence at that time as he, along with Les Collins, steadied the ship after two successive league wooden spoons.

However, he’s legendary status goes back before that as he was a major force in the British League at a time when Britain had the top league in the world. In 1976 he top scored for Sheffield Tigers with an average of more than 9.50 and also qualified for the World Final finishing seventh. He was a multi England and Great Britain internationalist.

After twenty five years of driving overnight long distance lorries he has now retired and has decided to see a bit more of the country and what better place to visit than Armadale. Doug has a fantastically friendly personality and is good fun to be with and we are offering everyone the opportunity to join him in hospitality on 3rd May.

We are offering Legend Night packages at £40 for the alcoholic package and £30 for the soft drink package. The package extends to far more than the price asked and includes stadium admission, match day programme, buffet, drinks, DVD of the meeting, photo with Dougie. Those benefits already cover more than the package price but in addition you receive £5 discount voucher for Club shop souvenir merchandise and a £5 off voucher for the match against Glasgow on 10th May.

Season ticket holders can join in the fun too simply by emailing us for more details.

Even with little publicity there has already been a steady demand for packages so book yours now at www.edinburghmonarchs.co.uk/tickets.
