The Bank Holiday entertainment at Scunthorpe was good, but the Scotwaste Monarchs took too long to get into their stride and just missed a point in the final race.

We went into the final heat just 5 points behind, but Andrew Tully and Kalle Katajisto were too slow away and lost a 5-1 to Aarnio and Howe.

For Kalle and Kyle Howarth this was a very encouraging match as both were involved in some exciting racing, and had their best matches for a while.

All of our riders had some success but no-one was really consistent. Craig Cook had one win but was otherwise below par, and he really must find a way to be at his best more of the time. He scored 16 on this track in the phase one match in April.

Andrew Tully rode well in spite of being in pain from his crash yesterday, while Kevin Wolbert had his moments, especially with a spectacular pass of David Howe in heat 13.

Matthew was missed, obviously, though we did get two race wins as well as two lasts from his heats.

Scunthorpe and Leicester rider John Oliver was involved in a nasty spill in heat 10 of the National League match which followed ours, and we wish him well.
