Kevin Wolbert will again be with the Scotwaste Monarchs in 2011, his third year with the club.

The German averaged just under 8 last season and missed a fair number of matches, but has pledged to make the UK his top priority during the forthcoming year.

He said ?I like Edinburgh and their fans and I am very happy to be back. We have had a successful time and I enjoy riding for the Monarchs.?

Kevin joined Monarchs in August 2009 and caused a sensation with his brilliant and daring racing for the remainder of that season. He hit problems early in 2010 with bike problems and some bad crashes, picking up a back injury, but he gradually came back to something like his best form.

He scored a maximum at Stoke on the night Monarchs clinched the Premier League title, and also rode brilliantly in the win at Glasgow the following day. A little later he took a remarkable fourth place in the Czech Golden Helmet, probably the best result of his career so far.

This kind of form suggests that the 21 year old Wolbert has the capability to go a lot further in the sport. He is keen also to secure a doubling-up berth in the Elite League for next season.

2011 Scotwaste Monarchs' team so far: Kevin Wolbert (Germany) 7.96, Matthew Wethers (captain, Australia) 7.04, Andrew Tully (Scotland) 6.68, Ashley Morris (England) 3.00. Points remaining 17.82.
