The Scotwaste Monarchs race the Glasgow A-Plant Tigers this week with new Monarch Tobias Busch in the side. This is a fixture brought forward from later in the season to fill the slot set aside for the Premier Trophy semi-finals, an arrangement which happily suits both sides.

Fresh in everyone's memory will be the Premier Trophy match between the teams when Glasgow pulled off a shock win by the considerable margin of 52-43, their best Armadale performance, and it goes without saying that as they happily sit in second spot in the Premier League, Monarchs will not be wanting a repeat.

TEAMS FOR THE PREMIER LEAGUE MATCH AT ARMADALE ON FRIDAY 4th JUNE (start time 7.30, doors open 6.30) are:

SCOTWASTE MONARCHS: Ryan Fisher, Tobias Busch, Kevin Wolbert, Matthew Wethers (capt.), Andrew Tully, Max Dilger, Kalle Katajisto.

GLASGOW A-PLANT TIGERS: Travis McGowan, Lee Dicken, Michael Penfold, James Grieves, Josh Grajczonek, Jamie Courtney, Anders Andersen.

TOBIAS BUSCH: The signing of Tobias was not a well-kept secret because it was announced on the internet in Germany, before the new Monarchs' lineup was approved by the BSPA. Hence our delayed announcement on Wednesday afternoon.

Tobias is 22 and rides in the German League for Stralsund. He comes with a recommendation from the Wolbert camp and was looking for a UK berth when the call came from Edinburgh.

JOZSEF TABAKA: It is never an easy thing to say goodbye to a member of the team. Our young Hungarian was very popular with everyone and showed signs of his potential.

John Campbell says in this week's match magazine: ?I believe that we have not seen the last of Jozsef as he has shown sufficient talent to bring him back in the future. I sincerely hope that, one day, it is possible to do that.?

AVERAGES: With several riders moving on to new averages after reaching the 12-mtch mark, Monarchs' revised averages now stand:

Ryan Fisher 9.03

Kevin Wolbert 8.00

Tobias Busch 7.00

Matthew Wethers 6.74

Andrew Tully 6.62

Kalle Katajisto 3.00

Max Dilger 3.00

Nothing further will change till 1st July.

MATCH SPONSOR: Regular sponsors James Banks Joinery are match sponsors of the Scottish Derby on Friday. James will be bringing guests from Polbeth United Panthers Under 10s F.C., with families.

TIGERS' THREAT NOT UNDER-ESTIMATED: The last result from a Glasgow visit will be foremost in Monarchs' minds on Friday.

On that occasion the top two of McGowan and Grieves were obviously to the fore, as they always are, but there were top-notch performances also from Lee Dicken and Josh Grajczonek. Dicken especially has a fine recent record at Armadale, as he was also involved as a guest when King's Lynn won there in the league!

The other three Tigers on the face of it are not such a big threat though Jamie Courtney has more than done his job this season, and Anders Andersen has had some good matches if not consistently.

Young Aussie Michael Penfold is a completely unknown factor and has not raced at Armadale before.

KO CUP ON SATURDAY: The Scotwaste Monarchs travel to Rye House on Saturday for the second leg of their KO Cup tie, holding a 51-29 advantage.

LAST MEETING: Scotwaste Monarchs beat Scunthorpe 59-34 at Armadale last Friday, with Kalle Katajisto continuing his great run of form by scoring 17. Monarchs also won away at Scunthorpe on Monday by 48-41 to move into second place in the league.

NEXT MEETING: On Friday 11th June Monarchs will race Workington Comets at Armadale in a Premier League match.
