Ryan Fisher became the second Monarch to lift the Ashfield Classic when he raced home in the final heat in Glasgow today.

He followed 2007 winner George Stancl who was a Monarch for the second half of that season.

Ryan scored 10 points and did well to make the semi after starting with a second place and then earning an exclusion for breaking the tapes.

He picked things up though to make it into the semi, which he won comfortably from Ashworth, Lawson and Parker.

The automatic qualifiers for the final were Rory Schlein and James Wright. Ryan battled with Wright for the lead, and actually lifted across his opponent's path at one point. The referee allowed the heat to continue.

(Those who were at Workington earlier this season will remember Tomas Topinka lifting across Ryan's path in the final heat, in which there was again no stoppage. So - swings and roundabouts).

Matthew Wethers scored 9 and just missed the semi.
