Only Thomas Jonasson did consistently well as we made a bad start at Sheffield, going down to our heaviest defeat of the season.

Hopes might have been higher than normal at one of our least productive circuits, but we rarely looked like getting a result, especially after both William Lawson and Ryan Fisher had stopped almost simultaneously in the first race, on lap two.

Both riders suffered major engine problems which severly affected their evening.

Sheffield's recent form has not been good, but it looked as though they had psyched themselves up for a big performance. In the vital area of gating the Tigers were streets ahead of us.

Thomas Jonasson looked impressive from the start. He came from the back to grab a second place on the last bend of heat 3, then took a 4 point TR chasing Ben Wilson.

He won his next two races before losing out in an exciting heat 15.

In this we saw the best of Aaron Summers. He had passed Cooper to join Thomas for a 5-1 in heat 14, and followed that with a fine second place in the last one - the only Monarch to head Andre Compton.

Andrew Tully took a heavy fall when he hit the fence on the first corner of heat 9. He has bruised an ankle and will be working on straightening his frame during Friday.

Perhaps the eventual 55-36 loss was a wee bit of a reality check after recent euphoria, but we hope to bounce back quickly and do well in the Premier Trophy semi-final.
