The Scotwaste Monarchs did a solid job against a weakened Berwick team to record a 48-42 away win in the Premier Trophy.

Only in the last third of the match did Monarchs really impose themselves, with Matthew Wethers in particular coming good. He was the only rider to beat both Makovsky and Rymel.

Once again the opening pair did an excellent job, and it was a heat 11 5-1 from Ryan and Derek over Norbert Magosi which put Monarchs in front for the first time.

Fisher's unobtrusive score of 6+2 hides a very satisfactory first Berwick visit, and although Thomas Jonasson was still struggling to get his machine functioning he showed signs of starting to find his feet.

Again there were sound showings from William Lawson (10) and Derek Sneddon (9) plus some excitement in Andrew Tully's 7-point return.

Berwick had to replace the missing Hauzinger with Conference rider Greg Blair, who almost won heat 3! Presumably there is some doubt over the reported injury sustained by the Austrian.

Of course we earn three points now for this away win, and go to the top of the section (the only ones with any points!)
