The Scotwaste Monarchs stopped their losing run as everyone did their job, and the crowd enjoyed some excellent racing as Sheffield were beaten 53-40.

This was not enough to win the bonus, but with inexperienced reserves this was not a likely target with a 28 point deficit from the Owlerton match.

The main things were the win and the good racing. Monarchs took 11 heat winners to 2 for the thrilling Sheffield guest Lee Complin and one each for Ashworth and Cooper.

Kaj Laukkanen and Derek Sneddon were both unbeaten prior to their finals heats but lost out to Complin, as did Matthew wethers in a thrilling final heat.

Neil Machin chose the right heat for his TR as Ashworth scored 6 in heat 11, and he also picked Paul Cooper's rides well enough to see the Tigers reserve pick up paid 11 from 7 rides.

These moves ensured that Sheffield took the bonus easily, but from Monarchs' point of view the win was a great relief and the good speedway put everyone in a good frame of mind.
