The Scotwaste Monarchs failed to rise to the occasion in a tight league fixture won by champions King's Lynn, who provided 11 of the 15 heat wins.

That was the vital statistic of the match, Monarchs just didn't get enough people across the line first. Even with Theo Pijper and Ronnie Correy togather for the first time, there was only one heat win between tham.

Star of the show was former Monarch Daniel Nermark, who rode very well though from a home point of view, he was put under very little pressure and had each of his heats won by the back straight of lap one.

A five-ride maximum from Nermark and a seven-man team earned the Stars their win. Even with heat leaders Topinka and Lee both taking a couple of last places, there were backup riders to compensate in Brundle and Harding, who scored in all of their rides.

Monarchs' best performers were Derek Sneddon (2 wins), Henrik Moller after a slightly slow first ride and ever-battling reserve Matthew Wethers. But only briefly at heat 8 did the home team lead, an advantage which was disappointingly lost in heat 9.

Stars led by 4 points going into heat 15, and Daniel Nermark comfortably completed his five-ride maximum to clinch the win.
