The Scotwaste Monarchs grabbed a 46-44 win over the Wolves Select on a sunny evening with several heats to remember - and a last heat decider win for the returning Theo Pijper.

Wolves' David Howe was in great form, Freddie Lindgren won three heats and both James Grieves and Magnus Karlsson put their track knowledge to good use, but the more solid home side just held on to win.

The middle pairing of Theo Pijper and William Lawson, the riders who have swapped clubs this week, was the main source of points for the Monarchs. Both riders were in excellent form.

Scores were close throughout but a great win by Lawson over Kerr in heat 14 gave Monarchs a 2-point lead. Wolves must have fancied their chances in heat 15 through Howe and Lindgren but Pijper made a rocket start from gate 1 and led all the way.

After a difficult week featuring the injury to Jason Crump and team changes, everyone left the stadium with a smile on their face.
