Once again the Scotwaste Monarchs were in solid-scoring mood as they comfortably saw off the challenge of Berwick by 60-32.

You can't have thrillers ever week, and this was nowehere near the level of excitement of the Sheffield cup tie.

However there were again good signs for the campaign ahead in Monarchs' performance - Derek Sneddon won the Hermiston award this week for a rock-solid show, Andrew Tully sparkled with paid 10 in spite of poor gating on his first match in the top five, and William Lawson continued his recent excellence.

Berwick's top four all had their moments, and the gained a 7-2 in heat 7 won by Stan Burza on a TR.

They tried a 15-metre tac sub as well with Bergstrom in heat 11, but he couldn't get out of fourth spot.

Matthew Wethers, down at reserve, scored paid 14 and won the final race in great style.
