Ronnie Correy scored 13 points and recorded the fastest time of the season, but the Scotwaste Monarchs lost 50-41 at Newcastle, failing to gain the bonus point.

We could well claim that had we had in-form Andrew Tully at no. 7, we could have gone very close.

However the other side of things is that the remaining riders other than Correy didn't do enough against a team which is far from outstanding.

There was one race win each from Henrik Moller, Derek Sneddon and Matthew Wethers, and none from William Lawson.

William never looked comfortable on a track he usually does well on, although he did score 8 points. Henrik suffered the indignity in his second ride of being passed by Wilkinson off a 15-metre handicap, before taking what is becoming his customary heat 8 victory.

Ronnie Correy took to the track quickly on his second appearance there, and won the opening race in 62.8 secs, the fastest of the season and just 0.7 outside the track record.

He dropped two points to Christian Henry but gained his revenge in heat 15.
