The Scotwaste Monarchs beat Glasgow 47-43 in the Scottish Cup first leg in the final meeting of the Armadale season.

The weather was not as bad as the forecast and we were treated to an enjoyable night of Speedway, with Monarchs coming back from an 8-point deficit to take a narrow win.

There were a number of engine failures, with Monarchs suffering early on but Tigers taking a blow when Ksiezak stopped while leading heat 8.

A heat 13 5-1 put Monarchs ahead for the first time, and this was followed by a great win from the back for Monarchs' guest Chris Kerr over Nieminen. Kerr and Kevin Little formed a solid middle pair on the night.

Worse was to follow for the unlucky Nieminen who has a suspected broken shoulder after crashing on the second bend of the last heat decider, won by Shane Parker.

The second leg is at Ashfield on Sunday 15th October (4pm).
