DISAPPOINTING CUP EXIT

It looked good - for three quarters of a lap.

After that, it was downhill most of the way as Monarchs crashed out of the cup at Newport.

We were on a 5-1 in that opening heat until Henrik crashed and suffered a hip injury, which ruled him out of the rest of the match.

We needed a big effort then from the others, but they missed start after start and slumped to 18-44 after ten heats, with T/R's used up.

We finally lost 55-31, abandoned after heat 14, and were grateful that William and Matthew seemed to escape injury in a heat 15 crash caused by Chris Schramm losing control.
